Each extract is prefaced with information about the person and how they are linked to the crashes. The closest thing to the truth seems to come in the form of a book by Elspeth Martins: Black Thursday: From Crash to Conspiracy, which is made up of transcripts of conversations Elspeth has had with people involved somehow, and copies of emails, letters and instant messages she has sourced. The truth is elusive, but one thing seems certain – the child survivors are… different. Many believe there was a fourth child survivor who has disappeared. Some believe them to be aliens, some that they are possessed by demons, some that they are three of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Rumours and conspiracy theories abound about the reason for the crashes, and about the surviving children. As the crashes are investigated, no links are found between the four crashes – the planes are from four different airlines all four have different causes. Terrorism is initially suspected, but no-one comes forward to claim responsibility. One plane has no survivors the other three each have only one survivor, in each case a child, in each case barely scratched. On top of this, for reasons nobody can really explain, my father cancelled his life insurance policy about 2-3 months ago, leaving us with no payout from that.Four planes crash on the same day on four different continents. My dad, having shot himself in his work van, we also may have to pay off the remaining $10,000 in order to release it to a junkyard to scrap it, or pay several thousand to a special company to clean the van before releasing it back to us. On top of this, my older brother, Dan, worked for my parents business as well, leaving him currently unemployed.
Due to my father's passing, the business may not continue on, or if it does, will impact my family alot financially. My parents have run a home renovation business for the past 35 years, since they got married, and that is the only income that my family has had.
My family has been put in an incredibly tough position after the recent unexpected, and incredibly heartbreaking suicide by my father, Mark. He is survived by myself, my younger brother Johnny (19), my older brother Dan (27), and my mom Brenda (56). I'm Joseph Lotz, the middle son in the family, son of Mark Lotz who recently passed away.
